Measuring Impacts
Learning and Development interventions need to demonstrate their return on investments. Leadership Development and Coaching are no exceptions: it’s vital to present a sound sound business case for individual, team and leadership development activities.

Our method
Using online software, The Forton Group offers impact measurement tools for training, coaching and other leadership development activities.
Coaching Impacts look at the ROI of coaching interventions as seen through the eyes of the coachee and their line manager - this can be extended to a 360 survey.
Training Needs identify the training needs of an individual, group or organisation - e.g. to support the design and learning objectives of a training or other development programme.
Training Impacts assess the ROI of leadership development and training interventions
Where clients already have other measures in place, e.g. Balanced Scorecard, or other key data, we can adapt our service to integrated existing data sources.
Our Impacts surveys are based on the Kirkpatrick model, measuring learning in four key dimensions:
- Reaction – what participants thought and felt about their development activity
- Learning – the knowledge or capability
- Behaviour – the extent of applying the learning
- Results – the impacts on the business or environment
Impact Surveys can also be adapted for team development and facilitated events, presentations and other developmental interventions.

Financial Return on Investment (ROI)
Our impact surveys also measure the financial ROI, typically where respondents identify financial impacts of their learning on the business environment. In order to be rigorous, we weight the results by intervention and by certainty.
Where the financial benefit is particularly complex or high, we interview respondents to tease out details. Impact surveys are closely related to the initial objectives of the learning or development activity and to organisations’ strategic and business objectives.
When to measure
We ensure your ROI budgets are well-targeted and achieve their desired objectives by creating a baseline measure at the outset, and re-testing at a suitable interval during the coaching or training programme delivery.
